Was reading an article from SatisFacts about shifting residents’ needs in todays remote work environments and the two things that stood out were 1. Faster Internet and 2. Access to Print Services. Ever since the COVID-19 pandemic, there has been a huge shift to work from home and this is driving changes in the needs of these residents’.
In the survey of 500 apartment renters, 54.5% ranked faster internet as the number one amenity while 50% cited printing as number two. 49% said they would be willing to pay more for a community with faster internet while 40.8% of respondents said they would pay more for access to Printing, Scanning and Copying services.
“It is always important for apartment operators to stay up to date on resident sentiment, but especially when we such a dramatic shift in resident needs and priorities, as we have during the pandemic, said Lia Nichole Smith, vice president education and performance at ApartmentRatings and SatisFacts. “Residents’ needs aren’t the same as they were 10 months ago, especially for those who now working or schooling from home. It’s vital for operators to reach out to learn what those current needs are and reassess what they’re doing to accommodate residents.”
The survey also noted that the biggest challenges to work from home were 36.6% balancing work and life schedules while 35.9% said lack of a dedicated work space. 51.8% of respondents said there printing needs have increased or stayed the same this past year and 47.1% saying they would use a community printer often or daily, if available. 12% said they would use a community co-working space.
